Now, boys and girls, what's the first lesson we learn when we get in a car, ride a roller coaster, or board the school bus for the first time? "Keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times." Otherwise you may suffer the fate, as told on the school bus, of the nameless kid who stuck his arm out the window and had it chopped off by a passing truck. You may choose to disregard that rule, but you never forget it. Well, I'm guessing that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. forgot that in this case:
[Carl] Edwards was leading the race when Earnhardt spun him out of his way with one lap to go. Earnhardt went on to win the race under caution, and as he was making that final lap, Edwards drove onto the track and rammed into the side of Earnhardt's car. Earnhardt's hand was hanging out his window when Edwards bashed into his car, and he had to quickly pull it back in to avoid injury.
Yes, not sporting of Edwards in the least. But wouldn't you be pissed if some bully pushed you out of the way and won the race when you were in the lead? What Edwards did was wrong, but I understand why he did it. And I'm sure Earnhardt wasn't expecting anyone to ram him or anything during that final lap, but for God's sake, he's on a racetrack- he wasn't out for a Sunday drive. What on earth is he doing sticking his hand out the window in such an environment? It's like sticking your head out the window while driving through the guillotine factory.
Edwards later went to Victory Lane, where Earnhardt was being uncharacteristically booed by the fans, and the two had a heated argument during the post-race ceremonies.
Now that is interesting. The rednecks have some sort of conscience! Actually, I'm surprised; I thought they blindly supported Earnhardt through everything. Personally, I think both Edwards and Earnhardt are in the wrong and they both acted like jackasses. How old are they, six?
I couldn't give a rat's ass about NASCAR, but in cases like this, it's entertaining. Fred randomly won tickets to a Busch Series race next month so we're going to see what it's like, since we've never been. Not sure what we're getting ourselves into, but I expect to see many fine mullets. I know I won't be disappointed, especially in Dover (Slower Delaware).
