Clarett's clearly nuts

Let me guess- it was all a miscommunication:

Maurice Clarett was charged with carrying a concealed weapon after a highway chase early Wednesday that ended with police using Mace on the former Ohio State running back and finding four loaded guns in his sport utility vehicle, police said.

It's always something with this guy, isn't it?

Officers used Mace to subdue Clarett after a stun gun was ineffective because the former Fiesta Bowl star was wearing a bullet-resistant vest, Sgt. Michael Woods said.

One assumes he was ready for a confrontation. It's not like bulletproof vests are a hot fashion item.

"It took several officers to get him handcuffed," Woods said. "Even after he was placed in the paddy wagon, he was still kicking at the doors and being a problem for the officers."

That's OK, he's a problem for most people. No wonder the Broncos dumped him.

After Clarett was placed in a police van, officers discovered a loaded assault rifle on the passenger seat and three handguns in the front of the car, including one in a holster in a backpack on the passenger-side floor.

What was he DOING? This guy is a danger to himself as well as to others.

And in the "WTF?!?" department:

Police also found a compact disc of children's songs recorded by Ohio prison inmates that the state distributed last month to prisoners and their families.

Hoo boy. No comment needed here.

You have to wonder what happens to people that they go so far off the deep end to do stuff like this. Kind of sad, but it's hard to feel bad for him when he's out robbing people for cell phones and driving around with a cache of guns in the car.

There was a part in the AP story I read that noted how police found a half-empty bottle of vodka in the SUV, but had no evidence Clarett had been intoxicated.

Never mind the U-turn, the chase, the struggle, the vest, the guns, etc.

Nothing more to see here ... carry on.

Eddie C,

You don't have to be intoxicated to make an illegal u-turn, start a chase, cause a struggle, have a bullet proof vest on, and require macing. You could get to the same place by merely exercising exceptionally poor judgement.

My $0.02.

Ok...I'm a huge Buckeye Fan...bigger than you will ever know...not that you care...But dude is obviousily has bigger issues here. Its almost borderline mental illness which starts in males at around his age. The behavior gets weirder and weirder. But he was talking to a reporter right before the chase and it turns out that he is being chased by people that he owes money too. Money he borrowed to pay his attorney and living expenses for the last 3 years. His lawyer said he's reported all this to the FBI because they made death threats and they may also be linked to an arson case centered his apartment that was torched.....Its just a sad ending for a very talented guy....My 2 pesos and a quesadilla..

This is what happens when we hype people before they can mentally handle it. He thought he was the shit and he deserved a payout like his buddy Lebron. He wasn't ready and he should have taken the time to get himself ready for the real world.

This just in. It appears that he was just a block away from the home of a witness in his other case. He would have gotten a slap on the wrist before now he is going away for a while.

If you take away the seriousness of the guns and what not, this is rather amusing? WTF is a prison doing recording a kids cd!?!? That's tops on my kid's xmas list... lmfao!

I mentioned this on KSK, but his lawyer's name is NICK MANGO!

Time to change the Lawrence Phillips Open Palm Award to the Maurice Clarett Stupid Cup.

Where are Ryan Leaf, Brian Bosworth, and Heath Shuler? They need to be in this kid's life.

Shuler was supposed running for elected office last I heard. I never heard if he won, or even if that election has taken place yet.

I had to maintain an OSU Football site at work during Clarett's time, so I got tired of that particular manchild really quickly.
