There's a new entry in the D.C. sports blog world: Dan Steinberg's "D.C. Sports Bog" over at washingtonpost.com. Anything written by a guy in a Tom Landry hat can't be that bad, right? Except for using the phrase "Worst. Blog. Ever." in his FAQ, even ironically. I love The Simpsons as much as anyone, but that phrase jumped the shark ages ago. Kind of like "jumped the shark."
See, this is the kind of inside info I wish I could get:
Nick Johnson trotted out a new pair of black socks, Alfonso Soriano said that meant there was a 99 percent change that the Nats would win this afternoon, and the players were listening to Justin Timberlake at one point and even dancing a bit. Yes, Justin Timberlake. I guess Justin Timberlake is socially acceptable now.
I love Nicky and his socks. And what I wouldn't give to see Kearns jamming to Justin Timberlake! Somehow I doubt he was one of the ones enjoying the music.
Only one day and poor Dan already feels slighted:
Btw, how much do I have to write about George Washington before I get a link on gwhoops.com? Anyone? Anyone? Do you need weekly SirValiant Brown updates? Where-are-they-now sessions with Nimbo Hammons and Eric Withers? A Glen Sitney retrospective?
See, I remember the days of Alexander Koul, Shawnta Rogers, and Kwame Evans (not necessarily at the same time, of course) but now I'm dating myself.
Speaking of GW grads, I'm going to have a struggle with rooting for Danilo Pinnock. (When did he stop being called J.R. and go to Danilo, anyway?) I loathe the Lakers, especially since they have Kobe and Kwame. But I'm all for a GW grad going pro. I can only hope that he plays well enough to show up Kwame, even at a different position! That shouldn't be too difficult.

When Austin Kearns was with the Reds, he did not dance or jam or have any reaction to the music that the Latin players would play. But when it was his turn to pick the music or Dunn or LaRue's turn, you could bet the farm that the country music would be blasting.
Surprisingly, he actually seems more comfortable in a low-key bar situation than in the clubhouse.
