Road trip to Hershey for game 4 of the Calder Cup finals...it was well worth it! The video is of the last 10 seconds of the game. The sold-out Giant Center was CRAZY, but that's what happens when the home team wins 7-2 (and four of those goals were in the first period). Hershey folks love their team; no less than three employees at Chocolate World and Panera asked us if we were going to the game (I *think* the Caps gear tipped them off) and they chatted about the Bears. Fred said it was like being in Canada with all of the hockey talk; kind of refreshing, really. (He also loved seeing all of the Eagles fans, of which there were many- oddly enough, they all felt obligated to wear both Eagles hats AND t-shirts. Go figure.) The fans were from all over the place- we talked to people from Beltsville to Fairfax Station. It was encouraging to see so many Caps fans there. Also, the prospects for the future look good. Here's to next season!

That must have been amazing for you to see in person... awesome! Go you! Thanks for the recap. There is a very bright future ahead for the Caps. Here's to a Calder Cup for the Bears!
BTW, thanks for your comment on the new Weird Al song... very much appreciate that!
Keep up the great work!
hiya,
first time here at your blog, found your page from a link posted on "off wing opinion".
i'm a local bears fan and i was also at game 4 last night, and will be at game 5 tomorrow.
you couldn't be more right, the crowd was INSANE and i loved every second of it. the bears have a tremendous following around here and i've been really pleased that the fans have all come out to support the team.
i know a lot of the teams that come into hershey can't be ready for the kind of nutty huge crowds we have. some of these teams are playing in front of crowds in the 3000-5000 range. they come in here and find 10000 people going nuts. it has to rattle their cages just a little bit, lol.
i've heard from other people that they are really surprised when they come in here from out of the area and see what kind of support the bears have. being a tremendous hockey fan i'm lucky to be in one of the few "hockey hot spots" here in the states.
i'm really glad you got to come up and enjoy a game here and that you had a great time. you definitely picked a great game to come in for.
i'm hoping the bears can pull it off this year because i know a lot of those guys will be wearing caps sweaters VERY soon.
great vid clip you posted. great work on your blog, i'll definitely be stopping by often.
take care...
Benjamin- it's funny, Fred and I had planned on going to a Bears game all season and just didn't make it until now. I wish we had gone sooner. It was a great time! Loved the intensity of the place. We're definitely going to a game next season- and not during the playoffs :-)
