Cuban SMASH!

I swear the dude is gonna turn green one of these days and his shirt will rip off, a la the Hulk. *shudder* Well, you gotta give Mark Cuban credit- he's never boring.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was fined $250,000 on Tuesday for his outbursts following Game 5 of the NBA finals, and commissioner David Stern said he's getting tired of the team's antics off the court.

Well, Stern isn't the only one who's sick of it- did you see Nowitzki's temper tantrum after the game? It gets old fast.

Cuban said Monday he was expecting to be fined. It showed in his reaction to the penalty: "I'm fine with it," he wrote in an e-mail. "Get the humor there. Fine with it."

Yes, doofus, WE GET IT. Thanks for the help, moron.

Cuban posted a blog entry in response to a column in the Miami Herald that quoted him as saying, "Your league is rigged" during his tirade after Game 5. "That's a complete insult to the players on the court and the incredible amount of effort they put into preparing for and playing the games," he wrote. "The NBA couldn't rig the games if it wanted to. And it doesn't want to. It's that simple."

No one ever said Cuban was rational. I believe the statement even if David Stern doesn't, only because Cuban is known for making wild and unfounded assertions. It absolutely sounds like something he would say- of course the NBA can't rig the games, but it won't stop Cuban from saying that they can, especially when he's angry. (And he's often pissed off these days, it seems.)

Dan Snyder's a jerkwad, but he simply doesn't compare to this guy. I never thought the day would come when I thought there was a worse owner than Snyder. Unbelievable.

Just the fact that we talk about him makes Cubes a good thang for the league. He's just a billionaire fighting for his team...don't see much wrong witht that outside of temper tantrum in public.....

He needs to learn his place- writing checks for the team, not arguing in a ref's face. He goes more than a little TOO far.

-I would disagree with o-face. When the first thing discussed about the Mavericks is their owner then that is not a good thing. The star players and team should be the focus of fans attention not a dork of an owner. If he could restrain himself even he would probably admit that. As far as Cuban being a good owner I would say in many ways he is one of the best owners in the league. He has taken a franchise that was very bad and made them into contenders by creating an atmosphere where players want to play and fans are excited about the team. Plus he does have a passion for winning. Some owners could care less as long as they make a buck. Unforunately for Mark Cuban and the rest of us, his passion also makes him a huge jerk at times also turns many non-Dallas people off of his team. I rooted against Dallas mainly because of Cuban. Your right when you say he needs to figure out his role. It shouldn't be on the front page.

Great point, AQ. A good owner does generate interest in their team (and hopefully, down the road, success). It isn't easy to make a bad team into a contender, so Cuban gets credit for that. Acting like a spoiled brat every time your team loses, though, is uncalled for and just not part of the game. What a jerk.
