Lawrence Gottesdiener, CEO of Massachusetts-based real estate developer Northland Investment Corp., said Thursday he's looking to buy the Penguins, either to keep them in Pittsburgh with a new arena -- or move them to Hartford, where he is lobbying state officials to build an arena.
I think Ted could really capitalize on this; too bad it's the end of the season and there's only one home game left. I could see fundraising drives at Verizon Center: "Kick the Penguins out of Pittsburgh!" Caps fans would easily pitch in for that one in a heartbeat; I know I would. If Hartford isn't willing to fund the new stadium, Northland should have no trouble getting private monies- with the Caps fund being one of the largest. How sweet would it be to see the Penguins leave Pittsburgh? I'd laugh my ass off.
On a side note, we sat in the lower bowl for last Wednesday's game and I went a little camera-crazy. Wish we could sit there for every game; it was fun and I got some decent close-ups.
This one's for DC Brownie. I know how much you love Doug Weight- too bad he's not with your Blues anymore.

Doesn't it look like Zubie and Ovey are whispering something nasty about Hedican?
Ovechkin at the faceoff- wish he was wearing his Robocop face shield:
Sucked that they lost the shootout, but it was a great game to sit practically on the ice. Definitely worth it.

I wonder if Teddy E-mail has a contingency plan ready if the Pengyunz leave Pittsburgh. There must be at least 10,000 Pengyunz fans around the DC area and if he reached out and convinced even 10% of them to adopt the Caps it would be a significant contribution to the Caps fan base.
I think we'll all be deep in the cold, cold ground before Pens fans would ever convert to Caps fans. Then again, they can be pretty fickle...
Many of the Pittsburgh transplants that I know here are Pens fans. I think their world would end and a portion of the District would fall into the Potomac if the Pens left Pittsburgh. Though wouldn't they have to call them the Whalers if they went to Hartford?
Sounds like a great game! Thanks for the photo you posted for me. :-)
