To some, the Nationals' woes continued today with the announced DUI of Jim Bowden:
Washington Nationals general manager Jim Bowden was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after allegedly running a stop sign while in Florida during his team's series against the Marlins last weekend.
The report said that "a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage" emanated from the gray 2006 Cadillac STS that Bowden was driving and that he had "bloodshot eyes, glassy eyes, flush red face and slurred speech."
I'm impressed that his eyes were both bloodshot AND glassy! That takes talent!
...about 10 minutes before Bowden was pulled over, two officers saw he and his girlfriend, 36-year-old Joy Browning, arguing along nearby Ocean Drive. After assuring police that everything was fine, they drove off and allegedly ran through the stop sign.
Because that's what I do when I'm drunk, driving, and in a fight with my significant other: I run a stop sign when I know the cop is watching.
Police then noticed that Bowden had scratches on his right ear and left cheek and told Browning she would be arrested for a domestic violence charge. She refused to get out of the car and struck one of the officers twice after he took her cell phone, police said.
Perhaps Ms. Browning was merely rehearsing her roles in "Lady Killer" and "Monster Movie?"
Anyway, I'm not complaining. Bowden is a love-him or hate-him guy, and I'm in the hate-him camp. He makes such stupid boneheaded moves; while some have worked out, the majority have not. This is just another one of his dumb mistakes, for which he is famous. Let's hope Bowden keeps a low profile for a while and when Lerner is announced as the owner (which he likely will be), hopefully he'll pick a new GM.

I hate no man, because thats just not sexy, but i agree with you for the most part. Driving drunk while arguing is not a great experience for those who are not suicidal. Maybe she kncked some baseball sense into him. Might of been arguing over Soriano trade???
