random thoughts from a shotgun mind

Ok, Since DCSportsChick is busy saving the world or was it crashing cars, I got to put in my two cents.

So let's start with "News of the weird" from the Olympics. The German National Ski team awarded a contract for headgear to Adidas. Since Adidas is a German company that should be a good thing, right? Well it looks like some one either was playing a funny or just plain stupid. The German ski team received their headgear, but it was in the Belgium colors. So at least a couple of the athletes competed with the incorrect outfits. So who do they award the medals to, Germany or Belgium?

Speaking about awarding medals the "sport" of ice dancing awarded their medals the other night. The US team won the silver medal. I think that a silver should be put up on the Canadian tally as well. See Tanith Belbin is or was a Canadian. As Tony Kornheiser puts it she has only been a US citizen for about ten minutes. She became a citizen through an act of congress and a signature of the Prez. What a load of Bologna. Oh, well. I can't get too pissed about it. But it does go to my theory that we Canadians are going to take over the US some day. It seems like more and more Canadians are bringing their Canadian-ness to the US. First it is the actors, now the ice dancers. Next thing you know it, Tim Horton's will be replacing Krispy Kreme, football will have 3 instead of 4 downs and people will be spelling color with a "u". As long as I can get a real Molson I can deal.

Quick note about baseball. Not only do we have to deal with the soap opera bullshit with the stadium deal, but now we got something else. It looks like a company in Cincinnati has a claim on the Nationals name. This is too much. I am not buying all new crap for this team. Not that we know if the team is actually staying here or if a new owner will keep the name anyway. If this stuff ever gets settled will the drama ever end? Personally I don't think so. Baseball is all about drama. If is not this it will be something like the kind of stuff that happens with the Yankees or Red Sox.

Thank God for hockey!!

They are slowly making their way here. I think they are as close as West Virginia and Pa, but not close enough to visit. But I could handle a nice maple donut right about now. Snowy weather and Tim Horton's. Perfect.
