Not-so-deep thoughts

- As mentioned on countless Caps blogs and in the Washington Post, the new sweater is out. I showed the leaked photos earlier this week to a co-worker who hasn't been to a game since the previous red/white/blue days. "I don't like the V-neck," she said. "I like the round crew neck much better." I'm just glad it doesn't have laces- I'm not a fan of that detail. Chanuck and I have countless disagreements about laces when we see a Rangers or Avs jersey.

- I'm still bemused by the Dan Snyder/American Bandstand thing. First Tom Cruise, now Dick Clark. I guess you can't blame the midget for wanting to surround himself with people as short as he is. Maybe he's getting ready to build some super-empire, where all the men are 5 feet tall. It's only a matter of time, I'm telling you.

- Despite the Nats' poor play against the Tigers this week (Detroit IS a good team, at least), I'm still hugely impressed that they aren't in the basement of the league- that dubious distinction belongs to Texas. Good for them. Who knew the Nats would be exceeding expectations?

- I really don't want Gilbert Arenas to leave Washington. He's one of the more entertaining characters in this town.

- I love Pacman Jones. He makes me feel so smart.

- The DC Divas are kicking serious ass in the Independent Women's Football League. They're undefeated in six games so far this season, with four shutouts (a couple of 70-0 games, at that!). They were league champions last season, and look poised to repeat.

- Similarly, the Washington Glory are off to a fast and furious 11-3 start, second only to the Rockford Thunder in the National Pro Fastpitch softball league. In addition to league games, they swept China and beat Venezuela in one game so far in the series.

Girl Power!
