Which brings me to the second part of the equation. I'm typically not a jersey-wearing girl, but I have to wear one to the game on Saturday night. (If you're going all the way to Toronto and going into their house to support your team, you're wearing a jersey.) Guess what my sole option for a women's jersey is? You got it! A pink "fashion jersey." No female-cut jerseys anymore. Apparently the NHL doesn't think that women want to wear the team's colors. So much for marketing to women and including them in the sport. Anyway, I was forced to buy a men's medium, which is essentially a dress; but hey, I can fit the 26 layers of clothes underneath that I'll need for the Toronto weather, so it's not all bad.
So if you're watching the game on Saturday and they do a crowd shot, look for two black Caps jerseys (unless Fred gets a red retro one before then) in section 320, center ice. I *think* I'm fully prepared for what the Leafs fans can dish out. At least they're not Pittsburgh or Buffalo fans, right?
p.s. Apparently there was a Red Wings scout at the game (he was having a drink at Clyde's afterwards), and I ran into Christine Brennan there as well; it was nice to see her again. Smokin' Al Koken was also there, but that's his hangout after leaving the Phone Booth.

I've seen the Caps play in Buffalo but nowhere else on the road... I'm interested to see how it compares. (I've also seen NHL games in Tampa and Chicago and maybe Phoenix later this season, in case anybody cares.)

I've been to several Toronto Caps games, the first being an 8-0 drubbing of the Leafs in '84, where the crowd cheered every last minute of play announcement (oh, the glory!).
Leafs fans are mostly suite who barely care so don't expect much emotion unless you're in the cheap seats.
Good luck and safe travels to Toronto. A group of us are headed to the Swamp for Caps/Devils on the 29th. If we're not back by the new year, call the National Guard.
Smokin' Al is always at Clydes trying to pick up some young thing...
CB is not only a great reporter and writer, but a terrific person...I remember meeting her last year and she was fantastic...

Very easily available at AJ Wright stores in Woodbridge, Alexandria, Oxon Hill, Glen Burnie, and Woodlawn.
They're the double-knit Mitchell & Ness variety, and for 36 bucks you can get home and road for the price of a modern Reebok.
You won't need five layers.... even Ottawa's high tomorrow is about 48 F.... (with freezing rain, albeit).

Sorry I missed you both in Toronto. The holidays were much more hectic than I counted on (go figure) and I didn't even start my Christmas shopping until Friday (go figure again).
