Done and done

When I started this blog 2+ years and 508 posts ago, it never occurred to me that this simple step was a potentially life-changing event. Yet it has been; I've met so many amazing people and had the opportunity to do things I never would have been able to do otherwise (for example, getting this pic with Chanuck on the roof of the Canadian Embassy during the Stanley Cup playoffs). This blog has been a source of great joy for me, and it's incredibly hard to give it up. However, I'm faced with other life-changing events on the horizon, and in light of that, it's time.

You'll still see me around the rink, around the stadium, around the field. That won't change; I might not be there as often, but I'll be there. I'm still a sports fan, after all.

Will I ever return to blogging? There's always a possibility, but for the time being, I need to focus on other things. I won't stop reading or commenting, though. When I first started blogging, the DC sports blog world was a lot smaller. I'm encouraged to see how it's grown in a relatively short amount of time, and I hope it continues to prosper.

Thanks for reading. It's meant so much to me.

Thanks for reading?

No, thank you for writing. Your online contributions will be sorely missed - hopefully your in-person contributions won't be.

I share JP's thoughts. Thanks for writing.

I believe I may be the only Caps blogger who is also a parent, and come November, a parent of two. I fully understand how "real-life" can have hindrances to blogging. I am blessed to be part of a strong foursome where we don't have the full weight on each of our shoulders.

I wish you and Chanuck all the best in what may come along.

Don't be a stranger and let us know if and when you return.

All the best,
Gary/Gustafsson

Seriously? Never again? Not even when something egregious happens in the world of DC sports and you need to vent about it? Really?

Is chanuck going to take up the slack and start blogging more than once a month? :)

I wish you the best of luck, and I am sad to see you go. As my coach always told me, "Keep your feet planted, keep your head up, and always look for your next oppurtunity." He was talking about hockey, but funny how those things always seem to help out in real life too.

Awww :( You've been a fixture in the DC Sports blogging world! I'm sorry to see you stop, but I know I'll still see you around! (right? RIGHT?)

I can't believe it, the goddess of DC sports hangs 'em up...we'll all miss you!!

You know that just because you don't blog anymore doesn't mean you get rid of all of us, though, right? Because there's a Stanley Cup to be won and Penguins fans to mock - we need all the help we can get!

Best of luck with everything and I'll see you soon :)

Aw hun, I am truly going to miss you. Your blog and your posts have been really inspiring, and encouraging for a lot of women around the sports blog-o-sphere.

I hope you do write again whenever you can and I wish you well in everything.

Like, don't you want to post about the Mets?

Tough to accept, but totally understandable. Keep reading, keep commenting, it does help.

I think we all go through the stage where we need to take some time off and focus on our (actual) lives and not just our readership in the blogosphere. Weigh your options and come back to us when you get a chance or have something to say.
On a personal note: I thought it was pretty cool the first time I had a message from you. Just thinking wow, a blog in D.C. giving notice gave me the inspiration to keep posting and to grow my blog. Since you are not writing as much these days, I still expect a holler-out from time to time in the comment section.

Sorry to see you go! Sorry if this is a duplicate. (Stupid gmail/blogger crossover conspiracy. Can you tell I haven't posted in a while? I hate change...)
